Danny McBride joins Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien: Covenant’

Danny McBride, who is best known for his hilarious performances on HBO’s Eastbound & Down and in Tropic Thunder, is reportedly in talks to join Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.

The casting was first reported by TheWrap, which reports that the comedic actor is in early talks. It’s not clear what role he will have.

Alien: Covenant is the long-awaited follow-up to Scott’s 2012 film Prometheus, which was kinda/sorta/maybe a prequel to the Alien franchise. Covenant is expected to bring the Prometheus story closer to the time of Scott’s iconic 1979 film.

Michael Fassbender, who starred in Prometheus as the android David, will be back. However, Katherine Waterston is replacing Noomi Rapace in the lead female role.

A plot description for the film was released in November by 20th Century Fox. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2017.

McBride is about to return to HBO in Vice Principals and voices characters in Angry Birds and Sausage Party.
