Once Upon a Time returns from its winter hiatus Sunday, March 6, with the mid-season premiere “Souls of the Departed,” which also happens to be the show’s 100th episode.
Co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis have been promising fans a very special 100th episode since Comic Con this past summer, although to Yvette Nicole Brown’s disappointment, it does not appear to be a musical! Instead, the episode has been designed to showcase many of the departed characters from the last four and a half years via a daring trip to the underworld. This has caused a lot of excitement among fans who have spent time guessing who they might get to see again. Of course, there are always new characters to meet, as well.
One hundred episodes is definitely worth celebrating. ABC did just that when they created a new promo featuring our heroes and villains, new worlds, adventures and, of course, love stories. It’s almost seven minutes long and leaves viewers with Charming’s famous “I will always find you” line, echoed by Emma as they board Charon’s boat for the underworld.
A promo isn’t celebration enough, though. The cast also celebrated Saturday night with a screening of the highly anticipated episode and a party, complete with a story book cake!

The gathering took place in none other than Steveston, BC, the location of Storybrooke, and included the cast, their guests, co-creators Horowitz and Kitsis and, as TVLine pointed out, ABC’s new entertainment president, Channing Dungey. If you think her name sounds familiar, you’re correct. Her sister, Merrin Dungey, portrayed Ursula in the second half of the show’s fourth season.
