On this week’s episode of How to Get Away with Murder, Annalise tells Wes she blames herself for his mother’s death, the Keating Five are interviewed by the ADA and Laurel lets slip to Annalise that Frank killed Lila.
Annalise struggles with Phillip. Eve hears and instructs Wes to call 911 and send them to his apartment. Meanwhile, Annalise continues to tangle with Phillip, but eventually breaks free and flees.
Cue opening theme.
Eve meets Annalise at the police station with Wes also in tow. In a flashback, Eve catches up with Annalise after Rose’s death and the pair watches Wes’ interrogation. He hasn’t yet been charged, but unlike Annalise, Eve doubts that Rose committed suicide. Later, Annalise tries to persuade the cop who interviewed Wes similarly, though she mentions looking into the case further (possibly with FBI involvement).
Following the ‘Philip incident,’ Annalise returns home and orders her students not to go anywhere alone until he’s caught. Simultaneously, the Keating Five is surprised to see Eve and Wes is bombarded with questions.
Upstairs, Eve tells Annalise that while her efforts to help Wes were admirable, he’s not her child and doesn’t need babying; he can handle the truth. She also asks Annalise to come to New York, when Bonnie enters. Nate’s come to see Annalise.
Nate talks with the Keating Five. When Michaela learns that Caleb’s missing, she gets emotional and points the blame at Annalise.
Ten years earlier, Frank waits for Annalise. When they catch up, she tells him about Rose’s suicide and contemplates stepping down from the case. Enter Mahoney, and Annalise tells Frank to leave her alone. Mahoney is upset that their only alibi is in the morgue; he thinks they’ll lose the case. When Annalise retorts, saying she knows Rose lied for Mahoney out of fear, he threatens to fire her.
In the present, Eve picks a fight with Nate by saying the police aren’t doing enough to protect Annalise and her students from Phillip. When Annalise intervenes, Eve storms out angrily, though not before Wes asks if they can talk about his mom. Annalise interjects, saying that’s a conversation for her—not Eve—to handle.
Later, the group finds out that ADA Denver wants to interview everyone who was on the security footage the night ADA Sinclair died. The group agrees to chat with Denver and each of them does their best to deflect his questions.
When the group returns, Asher formally apologizes to everyone for taking the heat for his blunder, but Laurel says Asher didn’t start the mess; Lila did. Hearing this, Bonnie corners Frank in private and he asks her if Laurel told her that he killed Lila.
In a flashback, Frank drinks at the bar and goes back to his hotel suite with a one-night stand. The next morning, he visits Annalise, but she’s not very agreeable with him.
In the present, Frank sneaks Annalise vodka and Annalise reads a text from Eve.
Laurel confronts Wes. He’s mad that Laurel lied to him and still doesn’t believe he didn’t hurt his mom.
Following Asher’s apology, the Keating Five wonder if they should tell the truth, but Frank and Bonnie advise them not to. Soon after, Oliver arrives with a pizza.
Nate checks in on Annalise. He mentions Wes telling Denver he was in New York to see Eve the night of the Phillip incident and wonders if Annalise is still planning to sneak off to see Eve. In a flashback, Annalise wants Eve to lie to help her case, though Eve refuses. Annalise decides to do this on her own and gets into a car accident on her way to the police station.
Sam talks with Bonnie and ignores his phone. When it rings again, he learns of Annalise’s condition. Back at the hospital, the doctors plan to give Annalise a C-section.
In the present, Annalise continues to drink, hiding the bottle from Asher and Bonnie when they enter her office. ADA Denver called again; he wants to interview Asher and Asher is nervous. Annalise tells him not to worry; he’s smart and can handle himself well.
Asher speaks to ADA Denver. He tries to trap Asher by telling him he has him on security footage at the parking garage the night of ADA Sinclair’s death.
Back at Annalise’s, Laurel rebuffs Frank’s advances because she believes that Frank shot Annalise, not Catherine.
Bonnie calls Annalise out on her drinking and asks why she consistently shows Wes special treatment. Annoyed, Annalise forces everyone to leave. Wes, however, is good to stay.
The Keating Five plus Oliver attempt to drink, dance and talk their troubles away at the bar.
Annalise calls Wes into her office and tells him that she blames herself for his mother’s death. She says she put too much pressure on Rose and that’s why things went wrong. Annalise let her ambitions get in the way of her judgment. In a flashback, Annalise’s baby is finally delivered. The doctors check on the baby, but he didn’t make it. Meanwhile, Eve tries to get updated on Annalise’s condition, but is turned away. Sam arrives and rushes to Annalise’s side, where she breaks down.
Later, Eve introduces herself to Sam and receives word from him on Annalise’s status. Sam also tells Eve to let their colleagues know Annalise will be off the case to rest at home.
In the present, Wes says he doesn’t believe Annalise and doesn’t understand why she couldn’t just tell him the truth.
Earlier flashbacks between Annalise and Mahoney reveal that Rose lied for Mahoney because he raped her, and Wes is his son. In the present, Annalise tells Wes about his father’s true identity.
Michaela drunk dials Caleb. Asher catches up with her and tells her he’s probably dead, then apologizes. The two hook up in the bar bathroom afterwards.
Wes searches the Internet for information on his dad.
Annalise cries while looking at a photo of herself, Sam and their dead baby boy.
Bonnie visits Frank and reveals she knows Frank killed Lila for Sam, not Annalise. The timeline of events doesn’t match up, meaning Annalise couldn’t have known about Lila to have Frank kill her. Frank says Annalise can’t know what he did.
Laurel shows up drunk at Annalise’s and looks for Wes. Annalise tries to shoo her away, but Laurel won’t leave. Laurel says Annalise has ruined all her romantic relationships, including Frank, and accidentally lets slip she knows that Annalise ordered Frank to kill Lila.
Annalise packs a suitcase and runs off to her mother’s.
End of episode.
