Kanye West returns to Twitter to announce the death of CDs

Kanye West has declared that compact discs are no more. He said on Twitter today that he has no plans to release The Life of Pablo on CD.

Today, West started off his latest Twitter rant innocently enough. “Uuuuum... hi everybody,” he wrote before dropping his latest stream of thought.

“I was thinking about not making CDs ever again... Only streaming,” he wrote. “The Yeezus album packaging was an open casket to CDs r.i.p. uuuuuuum, so there it is... No more CDs from me.”

For those who need a reminder, West’s previous album, Yeezus, was released in a clear CD case that included no artwork aside from a red piece of tape.

West shared some other thoughts, which were not directly related to his new album. He also asked people to stop talking about him in the future. What else are we supposed to talk about then?

“Question... Why do people not want me to be me?” he wrote. “I want people to be the best version of themselves and I will be the best version of me.”

Billboard did report that Def Jam and Universal Music Group were talking with West about a physical release of The Life of Pablo. But if his Twitter wishes come true, that might not happen.
