Film News Wrap Up April 13: 'Spider-Man,' 'Scooby-Doo' and 'Men in Black'

The upcoming Spider-Man reboot has officially been given the title Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to Marvel Entertainment. This is clearly a reference to high school, as the film has been described as a John Hughes style coming-of-age movie. But it's also a hilarious acknowledgement that the rights of the character have been returned to Marvel, returning Spider-Man back home where he belongs.

Marvel has also unveiled the first official trailer for Doctor Strange, their next movie after Captain America: Civil War. Check out the trailer to see some crazy alternate dimension action and Benedict Cumberbatch being Benedict Cumberbatch.

Batman -

Sony has officially announced the long-rumored Men in Black/21 Jump Street crossover, according to ComicBook.com. The film will be titled MIB23 and will star Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, however, will not be in the movie. Instead, Sony is currently seeking younger actors to portray the Men in Black. This strange project will be directed by James Bobin (Alice Through the Looking Glass).

Warner Bros. is making a new live action Scooby-Doo film, titled S.C.O.O.BThis movie will evidently be the beginning of a Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe, so we will presumably be getting new movies based on The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Yogi Bear. This will be Warner Bros.' fourth cinematic universe after the DC Cinematic Universe, the Lego Cinematic Universe and the Godzilla Cinematic Universe.

Speaking of DC, it's official: Ben Affleck will be directing and starring in a standalone Batman movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This should be great news for DC fans who were disappointed by Batman v. Superman and concerned about the future of the franchise. Most of those fans, however, were pleased with Affleck's performance.

Mark Rylance and Steven Spielberg are apparently getting along very well. Just a day after we found out that Rylance would be joining Spielberg's movie The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, he was cast in yet another Spielberg film, Ready Player One, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It looks like Bill and Ted 3 may actually happen! Actor Alex Winter revealed to Forbes that they have a script, director and studio, but they're just waiting to nail down a start date. He did caution fans that this is Hollywood, so they shouldn't get their hopes up too high until the movie is actually out.

Ray Bradbury's classic novel Fahrenheit 451 is being adapted into an HBO movie, which will be directed by Ramin Bahrani (99 Homes), according to IndieWire. The dystopian novel was previously made into a movie by François Truffaut in 1966. Hopefully Bahrani's film is good, considering high school kids everywhere will soon be watching it to cram for finals.
