Jurassic World 2 has officially found its director! Though Colin Trevorrow will be returning as screenwriter, the sequel will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, known for the 2012 tsunami drama The Impossible and the brilliant 2007 horror film The Orphanage. The news was officially announced on Colin Trevorrow’s Twitter account and he offered words of support for his new partner.

Star Wars lead Oscar Isaac is dishing about the experience of filming Episode VIII. The Poe Dameron actor backed up producer Kathleen Kennedy’s comments that Rian Johnson’s film would be unlike anything in Star Wars' history.
“For me, it’s so fun getting to explore different things that I wouldn’t have expected in this universe,” he told The Los Angeles Times. “In some ways it feels like we’re making an independent film.”
Now You See Me 2 director John Chu will be returning for a third installment. According to Variety, Chu made this deal with Lionsgate two months ago, a sign that the studio has a tremendous amount of faith in the upcoming sequel.
The director of The Jungle Book is returning to Marvel Studios. Jon Farverau, who directed the first two Iron Man films, says he will be serving as executive producer on Avengers: Infinity War, according to Digital Spy. He also said it’s a really exciting time at Marvel, adding that he’s seen a rough cut of Captain America: Civil War and thinks it’s fantastic.
Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson may be joining the upcoming Jumanji remake. According to Variety, Sony wants the two actors to star in the project after their collaboration on the upcoming comedy Central Intelligence. Directed by Jake Kasdan, the new Jumanji will hit theaters in July 2017.
Ghost in the Shell is running into some controversy, with fans angry that Scarlett Johansson was cast to play an Asian character. The production was almost far more offensive, though. According to Screencrush, Paramount considered using CGI to make Johansson look Asian. Paramount responded by saying they did indeed test this out, but it would have only applied to a background actor and they ended up discarding the idea.
After giving a magnificent performance as Johnny Cochran in The People v. OJ Simpson, Courtney B. Vance has landed his next role. According to Deadline, Vance is joining Tom Cruise in Universal’s upcoming remake of The Mummy. This will be the beginning of Universal’s new shared universe of monster movies. Also starring in the film are Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson.
Marvel is fleshing out the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming. According to Deadline, The Grand Budapest Hotel lead Tony Revolori will play an enemy of Peter Parker, although he will not be a super villain. Meanwhile, Laura Harrier (One Life to Live) has joined the project, as well, apparently also playing a student of some significance, according to The Wrap. Homecoming hits theaters next summer, though those excited for Tom Holland's Spider-Man only have to wait a few more weeks to see him in Civil War.
