Today in TV news, BBC and Netflix are working on a brand new adaptation of the classic book Watership Down. According to Deadline, the four-part animated miniseries will star John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), James McAvoy (X-Men: Apocalypse), Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road), Ben Kingsley (The Jungle Book) and Gemma Arterton (Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters). The series will be directed by Noam Murro (300: Rise of an Empire). It will air on BBC One first and then on Netflix.
The Leftovers is moving locations yet again for its upcoming third season. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Season 3 of The Leftovers will begin in Texas before moving to Australia, where fans will recall Kevin Garvey's father is currently located. The third season of The Leftovers will be its last and it's expected to air in late 2016.
Alec Baldwin will host a new version of Match Game on ABC, according to Vulture. The network has ordered 10 one-hour episodes, which will air as part of a new Sunday night gameshow block along with Celebrity Family Feud and The $100,000 Pyramid. In addition to hosting duties, Baldwin serves as Match Game's executive producer.
Drew Barrymore has been hired as the narrator for the upcoming reality-dating series First Dates, according to Variety. Produced by Ellen DeGeneres and based on the UK show, the series will chronicle genuine awkward moments that unfold on first dates all happening on the same night in the same restaurant. Production on First Dates will begin in July.
After the success of The Peanuts Movie last November, Charlie Brown is returning to television. According to Variety, Boomerang will begin airing new Peanuts shorts every morning at 11:30 starting on May 9. The shorts will not be done in the style of the recent computer animated film. Rather, they come from Normaal Animation, who have been making Peanuts shorts in France since 2014.
Bran Stark will be making his return on Game of Thrones this weekend and Isaac Hempstead Wright has revealed some juicy details about the character's future. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor said that Bran has a major role in the show's end game. "Now we’ve learned his storyline is pretty damn important," he said. "...Now he’s realized he’s been having his dreams because he’s got to save Westeros. It’s such a cool storyline now."
