‘The Jungle Book’ enjoys third straight week leading the box office

It seems that Disney is going to be leading the box office for the foreseeable future. The Jungle Book retained the top spot for the third straight week grossing $42.4 million, which brings its total gross to over $250 million. The film looks to eventually join Deadpool, Zootopia and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice among the $300 million domestic grossing movies. 

The Huntsman: Winter’s War retained second place and brought in $9.4 million. We had two of the new releases of the week Keanu and Mother’s Day take third and fourth place this weekend. Keanu, the buddy comedy from Comedy Central’s Key & Peele brought in just under $9.4 million and Mother’s Day starring Julia Roberts and Jennifer Anniston grossed $8.3 million according to Box Office Mojo.

Barbershop: The Next Cut rounded out the top five with $6.1 million. The other new release of the weekend, Ratchet and Clank which is based on the video games managed to record only $4.8 million.

The summer blockbuster season kicks off next week with Captain America: Civil War which is expected to have a huge opening weekend.
