Ryan Reynolds appears as Deadpool in new Honest Trailer (Video)

Ryan Reynolds just appeared as Deadpool to make fun of his own movie in the latest installment of Honest Trailers.

The video from Screen Junkies begins like a normal Honest Trailers episode before Reynolds suddenly shows up in character, as Deadpool. It isn't just a brief cameo, either; Deadpool proceeds to participate in mocking his own movie, ripping on the romantic subplot among other things. He also interacts with the voice over narration in a super-meta way, fighting back against Screen Junkies' criticisms and calling Honest Trailers a "played out web series."

This is not the first time Reynolds has played Deadpool in content outside of the movie. The actor has participated in a number of original videos that he uploads on his personal YouTube channel, including one about testicular cancer awareness and another responding to fans saying Deadpool should host Saturday Night Live. Just last week, he was in an ad for the Blu-ray release that mocked Viagra commercials, as we previously reported. Clearly this guy loves being Deadpool.

As pointed out in the Honest Trailer, Deadpool is the second highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, behind only The Passion of the Christ. It's also the highest-grossing film of 2016 in the United States, although Captain America: Civil War will likely catch up to it within the next few weeks. Deadpool's box office figures shattered the conventional wisdom that comic-book movies must be PG-13 to be financially successful and it will likely lead to an uptick in these types of adult superhero films. 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Deadpool, is already working on an R-rated Wolverine movie to be released in 2017.

Deadpool is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.
