Director John Carney apologizes for comments about Keira Knightley

Director John Carney slammed Keira Knightley earlier this week when he said in an interview that he would “never make a film with supermodels again” and his new flick is “a small personal movie with no Keira Knightleys in it.”

Carney worked with the actress on Begin Again and after criticizing her acting, he apologized for his remarks via Twitter.

The director admitted that he felt idiotic over his comments and what he said was “mean and hurtful” to Knightley.

“I said a number of things about Keira which were petty, mean and hurtful,” he tweeted. “I’m ashamed of myself that I could say such things and I’ve been trying to account for what they say about me.”

Carney also revealed that he issued a personal apology to Knightley.

So far the actress has not commented on the situation.
