Several celebrities joined the outrage expressed by many Americans after videos surfaced of two black men, Alton Sterling and Philando Castro, being shot by police but Mischa Barton’s reaction was a bit odd.
The actress took to Instagram with the now-deleted post which read, “I’m truly heartbroken to watch videos like the #AltonSterling execution. This may have been going on forever in the United States but thank god the pigs get caught on camera now.”
That caption wasn't the problem though. It was the photo of her on a boat in a bikini which caused the backlash from other social media users.
I don't think Mischa Barton could have picked a worse photo to showcase her solidarity. pic.twitter.com/vHkeGKuUtQ

Barton ended up taking her post down and tweeted an apology with a picture of Alton Sterling and his family and a broken heart emoji.
I'm human I'm not perfect and I'm sorry if my Instagram post went out of context I didn't mean to offend anyone

She then followed that up with tweets asking that everyone pray for Dallas.
My heart goes out to the families of the innocent police officers who were shot in the line of duty. ???? #PrayForDallas

Humanity is slipping through our fingers. Pray for the victims. Pray for our country. Pray for the world. #PrayForDallas
