Based on the 1925 Agatha Christie short story of the same name, the film is about a lawyer representing a man accused of killing a rich woman who had the man as the main beneficiary of her will. Wilder directed the film which starred Tyrone Power, Marlene Dietrich and Charles Laughton. It was nominated for six Oscars including Best Actor (Laughton), Best Director and Best Picture.

Affleck is currently filming Justice League and is finishing production on his fourth feature Live by Night. He's signed on to direct and star in the solo Batman movie as well. Affleck has previously directed Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo. He recently starred in Suicide Squad, Batman v Superman and Gone Girl.

The filmmaker will next be seen in The Accountant on Oct. 14.
