Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid's Instagram presence lands them on Forbes 2016 highest paid models list

With New York Fashion Week kicking off, it's only right that Forbes reveal 2016's highest paid models which shows that it pays to post.

Gisele Bündchen led the pack of supermodels, nabbing the first spot with $30.5 million.  This was thanks to her profitable deals and business ventures. However, she experienced a bit of heat in the form of fresh-faced social media stars Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

Jenner scored the third position alongside Karlie Kloss on the list, bringing in $10 million for 2016.

Jenner's new bank balance can be attributed to her significant Instagram presence. The model's 64.4 million follower count helped her snatch million dollar campaigns with Estée Lauder and Calvin Klein.

Hadid's social media prominence also contributed to her earnings in 2016.

22 million people follow the Maybelline cover girl's every move on Instagram. In turn, this brought sizable offers from Tommy Hilfiger and landed her in the fifth spot with $9 million.

"These models have [become] more and more influential because they are the conduits of media," says Chris Gay, president of Society Management. "Not only someone who can be the face of the campaign but a powerful means to distribute it."

Other supermodels that sashayed their way onto the list includes fashion veterans such as Adriana Lima, who grabbed second place with $10.5 million.

Miranda Kerr rounded out the top 10 list with $6 million.  This is a nice addition to her Snapchat CEO fiancé, Evan Spiegel's, already over-flowing bank account.
