'The Big Bang Theory' Recap: 'The Military Miniaturization'

On tonight’s Big Bang Theory: The Military Miniaturization, Howard prepares for his meeting with the U.S Air Force about his quantum gyroscope.

The guys agree that Howard should speak with a lawyer before the meeting. Howard seeks out his lawyer cousin, Marty, for advice. He tells them to offer as little information as possible and don’t sign anything.

When they meet with Colonel Williams, they find they government wants to fund their research. They however are hesitant about it possibly being used for weapons and the fact that they need it to be made significantly smaller in a short period of time. In addition, if the research is declared classified, they won’t be able to sell the gyroscope commercially.

Colonel Williams is a engineer from MIT and he doesn’t see the harm in the gyroscope stating that it’s not like they are “handing over the Death Star from Star Trek." Sheldon is unable to hold his composure for long as he eventually introduces himself as the brains of the operations and says engineers aren’t real scientists, MIT is a trade school, and the Death Star is from Star Wars. After he gets that out of his system, he agrees to the project and adds that they can get it done faster than the Colonel’s MIT colleagues proposed.

Howard and Leonard are still skeptical, but they all end up having a little too much fun with the retinal scanner in the classified area where they will be working.

In tonight’s sub plot, Bernadette is surprised when she gets a congratulations text from a co-worker about her pregnancy. She was keeping it a secret because she is up for a study and doesn’t want it to be given to someone else. She suspects that her co-worker, Barbara Chen, spread the news since Bernadette broadcasted her pregnancy causing her to lose a study last year.

Bernadette hurries to the office to find out if her boss knows. After she leaves, Penny confesses to Amy that she is the one that blabbed. She said it accidentally slipped out in front of her assistant one day.

Penny decides to confess to Bernadette that she told about the pregnancy after she starts to plot revenge on Barbara. Bernadette tells Penny to leave her office. Bernadette later forgives Penny and reveals that she struggles when it comes to being taken seriously due to being a short woman with a squeaky voice. In the end, she realizes that her baby is more important than a research project. At least that is what she’d say in front of a jury.
