'Game of Thrones' casts Jim Broadbent in big role for season seven

Jim Broadbent will play an important character in the seventh season of HBO's Game of Thrones.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the role is "significant," but is being kept a mystery. Now that the show has reached past the books, there's not much to speculate.

Broadbent has starred in the Bridget Jones movies, Moulin Rouge!, Gangs of New York, Hot Fuzz, and Cloud Atlas. He won an Oscar in 2002 for his performance in the Judi Dench and Kate Winslet drama Iris.

He also appeared in Brazil, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as well as the fifth and eighth Harry Potter movies. He recently appeared in The Legend of Tarzan and Eddie the Eagle.

Game of Thrones season seven is set to air in the summer of 2017. Season six received 23 Emmy nominations back in July.
