Former Access Hollywood anchor and current Today host Billy Bush has been suspended by NBC following the release of a videotape in which he can be heard conversing with and laughing at lewd comments made by Donald Trump.
As we previously reported, the network did not immediately punish Bush after the disturbing video was released Friday, but by Sunday evening NBC had announced that 44-year-old was suspended for his part in the recording. Then on Monday morning, when Bush was absent from the Today show, his co-hosts discussed the presidential debate the night before and addressed the elephant in the room.
"We want to note one other thing: Pending further review of the matter, NBC News has suspended Billy Bush, who now hosts Today's third hour, for his role in the conversation with Donald Trump," anchor Savannah Guthrie said.
Prior to his suspension Bush apologized for how he acted in the video from 2005 when he was still an anchor for Access Hollywood saying, “Obviously I’m embarrassed and ashamed. It’s no excuse, but this happened 11 years ago — I was younger, less mature and acted foolishly in playing along. I’m very sorry.”
There is no word yet on how long the suspension will last and if the network will keep on board.
