Vanilla Ice is one of the people in Florida who ignored the evacuation warnings and instead decided to stay at his Palm Beach Home and ride out Hurricane Matthew.
The 43-year-old, whose real name is Robert Van Winkle, took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that he was staying put and live tweeted what was happening around him.
"This hurricane is serious and coming right at me. I'm going to ride out the storm," he wrote.

Van Winkle's choice prompted actor Donnie Wahlberg to share his experience of riding out a storm as he wished him well.
"Dear @vanillaice - I stayed home during #hurricanesandy and it was a bummer. Be careful during #HurricaneMatthew! Be smart & be safe bro! ❤️," Wahlberg tweeted along with video of footage of what he went through following Superstorm Sandy in 2012.

As for Van Winkle, things did get scary for a while.
#HurricaneMatthew is pounding Palm Beach right now. Flooding and debris flying everywhere
— Vanilla Ice (@vanillaice) October 7, 2016
However, by Friday morning he tweeted that the storm had moved past his West Palm Beach neighborhood.
It looks like a mess with debris and some flooding here but overall Palm Beach handled it very well. #HurricaneMatthew

The New York Times noted that Hurricane Matthew weakened overnight to a Category 3 storm, but was still very powerful and making its way up the Florida-Georgia coast.
