‘War Dogs’ starring Jonah Hill and Miles Teller movie review

Released on Nov. 22, Warner Bros. new film, War Dogs, shows just how far some people will go to achieve the American dream. The movie, based on the article reported by Guy Lawson in Rolling Stone magazine, uses both comedy and drama to tell an incredible story.

Jonah Hill and Miles Teller play two friends reunited in their early 20s who bid on US Military contracts from their small business, pulling in big money. When they get in over their heads on a 300-million-dollar deal to arm the Afghan army, everything goes to hell. Will they stay alive after their contact with shady characters and keep their relationships with each other and their loved ones intact?

The movie is darkly funny and shows how going from underdog to someone of importance might not necessarily be a good thing. Hill plays a sleazy hustler that drags the more innocent Teller into his game. Both parts are brilliantly portrayed, so much so that you really grow to think of Hill’s character as slime. What won’t he do to make a buck?

Overall, the movie had a lot of action and drama. It was incredibly compelling and held my interest from start to finish. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good criminal film based on true events. You won’t believe what the characters get up to. Buy it on Blu-ray, DVD, 4K and digital HD today.
