My Discount DVD Club is exactly what they claim to be. They are a subscription service that sends out DVDs in various genres at a discount price. This review is for their October Family & Children box. Continue on to see what was inside.
This month’s DVD box was mailed in a plain white package with the company logo glued to the top. Everything inside was padded with tissue paper for a sturdy ride through the postal system. According to the owner, these boxes are being downsized. Starting next month, the DVDs will be mailed in a brand new bright red box. It should be eye-catching and make it easy to know what you’re grabbing from the mailbox.
This also marks the last month where the club will surprise you with titles from their library. Beginning in November, customers are able to choose their movies titles from a list of varying genres using an online questionnaire. If you’d rather be surprised, you can choose that too. It also gives you the option of receiving Blu-ray discs when they’re available.
This month I received Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed and The Legend of Mulan which in a non-Disney version of the Mulan story. I’m a huge Scooby-Doo fan, so I was happy to receive the second movie in the series. It’s a great pick for kids for October, being spooky but not overly scary. I’ve never really liked Mulan, but I’ll probably try this film at some point just to give it a chance. It would be interesting to see it without the Disney princess spin.
Also in every box of movies is a bag of popcorn and a handful of candy. October’s box brought chocolate. Hooray for M&Ms! It also contained Skittles and Starburst. There were two of each candy (my fiancé ate the other Starburst before I could snap the picture), which is great for households with more than one child. The popcorn this month was Pop-Secret butter flavor, a top pick in my house.
So, as always, My Discount DVD Club included two movies and several edible goodies for a great price. They cost only $8.99 with free shipping to the USA. Where else can you find a deal like that? They’re perfect for family movie night or date night with your sweetie.
I love that the company is evolving and letting you choose your own movies if you want to. You can even mix genres if that’s what floats your boat! They’re learning as they go along and still have the best deal in town for a movie subscription. If you’d like to sign up, click here.
