‘Lights Out’ by producer James Wan Blu-ray movie review

On Oct. 25, Warner Bros. Pictures released its new psychological horror film Lights Out. The movie gives us the same type of non-gory thrills found in The Conjuring, another film by Producer James Wan.

In Lights Out, Rebecca has moved on from life with her disturbed mother after a childhood of fear. However, her little brother is now experiencing the same terrifying and unexplained events that made her think she was going crazy. Rebecca steps in, trying to save her family’s lives from a supernatural entity connected to her mother’s past. Will she succeed or will the spirit kill them all?

This movie was a lot of fun, full of jump scares and psychological fear. I like a movie that can frighten without the need for buckets of gore. Also, the parts were well played so you felt the characters’ terror. While the ending was a bit predictable, it didn’t detract much from the entertainment value of the film. It’s the perfect PG-13 horror flick – appropriate for teens, but still scary enough to amuse their parents.

Overall, I think this movie is definitely worth seeing. If you like your scares without blood and guts, this is an ideal pick but it’s also good enough for any other horror fan. And if you loved The Conjuring, this movie should certainly be on your radar.

Give it a try either way and pick up a copy today.
