After juicing up the battery for two hours, I brought out Hobbico’s Dromida Rally Car for a test run on our street and quickly became the coolest dad in the neighborhood.
The four-wheel drive racer took off like a little rocket and zoomed around at my command with ease and precision. Kids tried to chase it on foot and on bicycles, but had no chance of catching up at its top speed of 30 mph. So I exhausted and teased them with my favorite new test toy until the battery finally gave out. After much pleading and lots of puppy-dog eyes thrown my way, I even let two older ones, including one of my own, try it.
I’ve gone out on a bunch of time since and I’ve been impressed by how durable the little guy is. Since it can turn so tightly, on a few occasions it flipped on the street pavement and I was expecting cracks, scrapes or dings in the outer shell. But it looks brand new. A foam front bumper protects it against impacts and damage.
The car sits low to the ground, which makes for good handling, and it has good gripping tires, but I wouldn’t recommend it for off-road use on grass. It got stuck on more than one occasion. But if you’re looking for a fun, speedy, easy-to-use remote-controlled car that you might occasionally let the kids try, this is a great option.
