Sad news broke on Tuesday that actress Carrie Fisher passed away at the age of 60.
As we reported, Fisher had been hospitalized since last Friday after she suffered a heart attack while on a flight from London to Los Angeles.
A spokesperson for the star's family confirmed Fisher's death in a statement which read, “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Fisher starred in several movies during her career in showbiz, but she is perhaps best known for her iconic role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films.
Fellow celebs who knew the star personally or were a fan of her work took to social media to mourn the loss of the actress.
