The top dog names of 2016 have been revealed and some are also the top baby names of the year.
On Dec. 2, Rover.com unveiled its annual list of the most popular names we have given to our beloved pooches this year. Some owners really loved one new trend in 2016 and ended up naming their pets after the Pokémon Go characters. The name Hamilton was a new name to make this year's list after the huge success of the Broadway show. And Coco Chanel, Beyoncé and Ruth Bader Ginsburg are names that have really gained traction in 2016.
But many of the names on this list are names that you would not only give to your pet but also your baby because let's face it our dogs are our babies too.
The top 10 most popular names for male canines were:
1. Max
2. Charlie
3. Buddy
4. Cooper
5. Jack
6. Rocky
7. Bear
8. Duke
9. Toby
10. Tucker
Max, Charlie and Jack were also top baby names of 2016.
As for our furry female friends the top 10 most popular names given to them this year were:
1. Bella
2. Lucy
3. Daisy
4. Lola
5. Luna
6. Mollie
7. Sadie
8. Sophie
9. Bailey
10. Maggie
Bella, Lucy, Luna, Sadie and Sophie all made the list of top baby names this year as well.
