Elton John composing music for 'The Devil Wears Prada' Broadway musical

The Broadway adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada will see a couple of important people at its helm. First, behind the writer's desk, will be Paul Rudnick, whose resume includes Jeffrey and I Hate Hamlet. And second, behind the piano, will be Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist, Elton John.

Both Rudnick and John will be teaming up to bring the 2006 blockbuster, which featured Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, to the Broadway stage, according to Billboard. Why? The producers said their decision was obvious.

"To bring The Devil Wears Prada to the stage, we knew we needed to find artists as inimitable as the characters in the story," Bob Cohen of Fox Stage Productions and Kevin McCollum said in a statement. "We needed artists whose work has run the gamut from music and publishing to drama and fashion. We could think of only two names: Elton John and Paul Rudnick...That's all!"

In a statement, John expressed his enthusiasm for taking on the project.

"Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super exciting," John said. "I'm a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can't wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture."

The Broadway musical still has no set date yet.
