The entertainment world lost a legend on Wednesday, Jan. 25, when Mary Tyler Moore passed away at the age of 80.
The Emmy Award-winning actress really made her mark on television with The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s. The show was the first of its kind and broke the stigma of what female characters should be and were portrayed as at that time. So it's no wonder why so many in Hollywood are mourning the loss of a true TV icon.
Gavin MacLeod, who was Moore's co-star on her hit show released a statement after the actress' passing which read in part: "A line from our theme song was 'Love is all around' and that's what it was for 5 days a week for seven years straight on the Mary Tyler Moore set. It was all because of Mary! She was professional; she was extremely creative with a terrific sense of humor and a gifted actress. She set a pace for all of us to follow. Today, 'sadness is all around' for all of us and I will miss Mary...deeply."
Upon hearing the news of her death, dozens of other celebrities took to social media to react to, pay tribute to and mourn the loss of the TV star.
