Rob Schneider, best known for his roles in slapstick comedies like Duece Bigalow, The Animal and The Hot Chick, decided to take a foray into civil rights lecturing on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Recently, legendary civil rights activist John Lewis stated he does not see Donald Trump as a legitimate president due to the Russian hacking scandal that apparently benefited Trump's campaign.
Schneider thought it was fitting to use MLK day to remind Lewis about how Dr. King won civil rights.
Rep. Lewis. You are a great person. But Dr. King didn't give in to his anger or his hurt. That is how he accomplished & won Civil Rights.

The irony in all of this is Lewis spoke, sat, protested and suffered with Dr. King on numerous occasions throughout the Civil Rights Movement. Of course Lewis, of all people, would be aware of how Dr. King won civil rights. Many social media users then voiced their displeasure with Schneider's ironic tweet.
Rob Schneider trying to give John Lewis advice on MLK is like someone playing call of duty trying to give a navy seal advice on combat.

Schneider did not reply directly to those critical of him. However, he did post this quote responding in the aftermath of the backlash he received.
...Now is a good time to love your countrymen and countrywomen. pic.twitter.com/Fv3RxCLK4j

Schneider's heart seems to be in a good place. He is bypassing divisiveness in order to promote a message of unity. Nevertheless, the tone deaf quality of his comments cannot and have not been overlooked.
