Emma Watson's recent photo shoot with Vanity Fair continues to stir the feminism debate. This time, it is the actress who is reacting to and shutting down critics over the semi-nude photograph.
Watson blames the controversy over the misunderstanding of what feminism means. In a recent interview with Reuters, she said, "I'm confused. Most people are confused. No, I'm just always just quietly stunned."
But not so quietly now as she is also angry. She is speaking out against the backlash she is receiving over the bra-less photo.
She explains that, "Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It's about freedom, it's about liberation, it's about equality. I really don't know what my t*ts have to do with it. It's very confusing."
Confused or not, Watson is no stranger to feminism. She was named a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for Women in 2014, in which she announced herself as a feminist. She introduced the popular #HeForShe campaign and stated that feminism is just as much a male issue as it is a female issue.
Watson maintains that the photos that Tim Walker shot for Vanity Fair are interesting, beautiful and artistic.
