Trailer Park: ‘The Boss Baby’ hopes to take control of the box office

There’s an interesting mix of films entering theaters this weekend, from a real life drama to a live action Japanese Manga and an animated talking baby. Alec Baldwin puts his Donald Trump impression to the side to be the voice of a baby in a suit.

Things change for a 7-year-old when his parents bring home a new baby in The Boss Baby. The new addition to the family is not the average newborn. He talks, wears a suit and starts a campaign against a puppy company CEO. The PG animated comedy features the voices of Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel and Lisa Kudrow. It plays for one hour and thirty-seven minutes.

Following a crash, a woman is transformed into a robot in Ghost in the Shell. When a terrorist threatens to manipulate humanity, she realizes she must use her cyber abilities to try to stop the destruction. As she trains for battle, she uncovers the truth about her existence. Scarlett Johansson stars in the PG-13 action drama. The one hour and forty-six minute film is based on the Japanese Manga of the same name.

A woman, who takes care of the animals at the Warsaw Zoo, has a major impact on the lives of many Polish citizens in The Zookeeper’s Wife. During the German invasion of Poland in 1939, Antonina Żabińska put her life on the line to protect her neighbors from the Nazis by letting them hide in the zoo. The limited released drama stars Jessica Chastain and is based on real events. The two hour and five minute biopic is rated PG-13.

Strange things happen when two girls are left by themselves at their prep school during a break in The Blackcoat’s Daughter. During that same time, another young woman has a mysterious urge to get to the facility. Evil takes over as the two stories collide. Emma Roberts stars in the horror film alongside Kiernan Shipka, Lucy Boynton, Lauren Holly and James Remar. It’s running in limited theaters for one hour and thirty-five minutes.

Another Roberts family member has a film debuting next week. Emma Roberts’ aunt, Julia, is one of the voices in the animated film Smurfs: The Lost Village, entering theaters on April 7. Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Alan Arkin’s latest, Going in Style, is also being released next week alongside Chris Evans’ drama Gifted.
