Abigail Breslin recently revealed that she is a victim of sexual assault and considering that April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the 20-year-old wanted to stand in solidarity with other survivors.
So, she posted a photo on her personal Instagram in honor of this monthly observation. She wrote, "I knew my assailant. #SexualAssaultAwarenessMonth #breakthesilence."
The poem in her photo read: "Consent II. you are not obligated / to have sex with someone / that you're in a relationship with / dating is not consent / marriage is not consent."
This led to multiple fans leaving comments about their own experiences with sexual assault. Many fans also shared supportive and uplifting comments on Breslin's post.
Because of all the love and empathy that her fans showed, she posted on Twitter early Wednesday morning, "So beyond thankful by the immense support regarding my IG post last night. I am so lucky to have all of you kind souls in my corner."
