The Black Press USA noted that Evin issued the statement regarding what she considers cruelty towards her father from the media. She said that people were too quick in hating her dad for what he had been accused of, but didn't realize the harm and pain they caused to others.
"I felt loved and remembered loving the moments that my parents shared with us by exposing us to all types of people from all walks of life," she wrote in her post. "We grew up appreciating my father's success because we knew the prejudice and racism he endured getting to where he got and how hard he worked for our family."
She continued to talk about the support she felt growing up especially by her father. "Because I loved my childhood, I couldn't wait to have a family of my own. I have two amazing children who love their grandfather," she asserted.
Evin continued, "The cruelty of the media and those who speak out branding my father as a 'rapist' without ever knowing the truth and who shame our family and our friends for defending my dad, makes all of this so much worse for my family and my children."
Evin demanded that each time an unknown woman would accuse her father of something, the story didn't match up. She said people focused too much on what the women said and didn't give her father a chance to tell his story. So when their friends tried to speak on behalf of the family sitcom father, they were immediately shutdown.
"We live in a scandalous country where the more sexualized and provocative the story, the more attention it gets," Evin shared. "We get all sorts of mixed up messages in our society."
Throughout her entire statement, she demanded that her father be treated equal until he is proven guilty and maintained her belief that "he is not abusive, violent or a rapist."
