Candace Cameron Bure defends herself against accusations of being homophobic

Candace Cameron Bure, 40, was slammed on Thursday, March 30 because of a photo she posted on her Instagram account. After being called names, the actress had her fists up and was ready to defend herself.

Bure's post was a photo of herself wearing a "Not today Satan" t-shirt when she was called out by Bianca Del Rio. Bianca Del Rio was made famous by championing RuPaul's Drag Race.

Del Rio not only sold "Not today Satan" merchandise, but also recognized Bure's post and re-posted it. The phrase was popularized by Del Rio on season six of the popular Logo series.

Not Today Satan ????????????

"IF ONLY, THIS HOMOPHOBIC, REPUBLICAN KNEW.........," the drag-queen wrote on her regram. This led to Del Rio's fans to attack Bure's Instagram and flooded her account with cruel messages and comments.

But then Bure wrote to Del Rio.

"Why do you have to be nasty to me? You don't know me or my heart," Bure said, "I'm not homophobic and always sad when people think otherwise. Loving Jesus doesn't mean I hate gay people or anyone."

She closed her message on a more uplifting note: "I hope next time you'll spread love and kindness, even when you disagree with people. Sending you love and wish you all the best. Truly."

HER RESPONSE...... ???????????????????????????????? @candacecbure #liveyourlife #lovejesus #republicanpride ????

Del Rio mocked her comment and posted an image of it on Instagram. Del Rio's captioned it, "HER RESPONSE...#lovejesus #RepublicanPride."

However, Bure's views on homosexuality have long been under attack. In fact, this was aired on the talkshow, The View. Back in 2015, Bure made headlines after she defended an Oregon bakery for refusing to prepare a cake for a lesbian wedding.

"I don't think this is discrimination at all," Bure shared. "This is about freedom of association, it's about constitutional rights, it's about First Amendment rights. We do have the right to still choose who we associate with."

Only time will tell whether Bure and Del Rio can bury the hatchet.
