Another week, another Empire recap.
No ... I-I didn't, Tori.
ANYWAY ...
Cookie comes home after her fight with Lucious, ashamed of being unfaithful to Angelo who returns from his business trip the next day. Candace, Cookie's sister hypothesizes that Cookie is addicted to Lucious, since he was her first. Candace warns Cookie not to tell Angelo about her and Lucious' kiss because it will ruin her future again.
Angelo returns and he and Cookie have a reasonably happy reunion. However, the joy is short lived when the feds start sniffing around Empire's headquarters looking for Cookie. Angelo and Cookie suspect Lucious and go to his house to confront him. The discussion almost gets violent but Cookie puts a stop to it. Angelo warns Lucious to stay away from Cookie or he will bring the pain.
Jamal and Tori Ash get to work on a new song featuring a guitar riff known as "The Devil's Chord."
Seriously, where did I put my Bible?
Cookie listens and approves of the song and instructs Jamal to wipe the studio hard drives clean every night so Lucious won't know what they're working on. Jamal unfortunately doesn't listen and Lucious catches wind of his new project and books the same studio Jamal was using to record Inferno. Again, Lucious Lyon can't handle his children being musically superior to him. Lucious then poaches Tori and her chord from Jamal and puts them on his album.
Jamal also FINALLY dumps D Major as a producer and as a lover. After Tori goes to the darkside, Jamal seeks counsel from his therapist Phillip and things get heated between the two.
With his case against Lucious down the toilet, Tariq begins pursuing Cookie and pressures Anika to testify against her. Tariq promises to put Anika in witness protection so she and Bella are safe and instructs Anika to meet him at Union Square so that he can take them to safety. Instead, Anika leaves Bella with Hakeem and escapes on her own. Guess that A&R job wasn't enough to keep her this time, Lucious.
Andre moves forward in his business dealings with Shine. Andre meets two of Shine's business associates, Danger and Rafael, plus Danger's wife Giuliana (Nia Long). The plan is to put together a deal with Rafael who runs several clubs in Las Vegas. During a meeting where Rafael physically abuses his wife, Giuliana shoots him and as Danger pulls a gun on Giuliana, Shine kills him. Andre reveals that his plan was to strike a deal with Giuliana and even though they now barely have Vegas, Andre still wants to do business.
Other things we learned this episode:
- Despite being in the running for the "Worst Father of the Year" award, Hakeem finally learned how to hold a baby!
- Blonde and crimped do NOT work for Tiana.
Sorry, boo.
-
-
- Leah Walker is on the Boo Boo Kitty Bandwagon. The jury is still out on whether she's #TeamCookie though.
-
Stay tuned for Wednesday when Boo Boo Kitty gets cornered and Hakeem turns 21 (even though I definitely thought he was over 21 this entire time).
