Lock your doors and stay inside because The Purge is coming to TV.
In 2013 writer and director James DeMonaco introduced a world where crime was legal one day a year. On that day, the people in The Purge universe go all out—in the form of major killing sprees. The franchise has featured three previous films with the fourth film to be released in 2018. The third film The Purge: Election Year was the most successful one, making $79 million in domestic box offices.

Now, horror production company Blumhouse is launching an independent TV studio. And, according to Deadline, The Purge will be coming to the small screen. Blumhouse will co-produce the series for USA and SYFY, and DeMonaco will oversee the adaptation.
Because the project is still in the early stages, it is still unclear how exactly the show will look. Perhaps each episode will be an individual night of terror, or maybe one 12-hour crime segment will take up an entire season. But one thing is certain, crime will be unpunishable and the body count is sure to rise.
