Victoria Beckham trademarks daughter Harper's name

Victoria Beckham has registered to trademark the name of her daughter, Harper, through the European Intellectual Property Office.

While this seems uncommon, Victoria and David Beckham have done it in the past with their children, Brooklyn, 18, Romeo, 14 and Cruz, 12.

The Beckham brand means that Harper will have the opportunity to have her name on anything from clothes to toys.

"It normally happens when your career is getting going," Oliver Bray, who represents the law firm RPC, told The Sun. "It's a sign of the times with social media and the whole way in which celebrities are exploited,"

In a way to control their image, Victoria and David Beckham have already trademarked their names respectively as well. The soccer player trademarked his in 2000 and the fashion designer trademarked hers in 2002.

Recently, the former Spice Girl released a collection with Target, in which she said the clothing line was inspired by 5-year-old Harper.

As Elle pointed out, the trademark will remain for 10 years, so it will be interesting to see how Harper will follow in her successful family's endeavors.
