HBO Got Hacked, GoT Script Might be Leaked

Game of Thrones, Hack, Script, GoT, HBO sad,
Evildoers have hacked HBO and released next week's episode of Game of Thrones. The dastards

GoT script might get leaked. HBO needs to get a nondisclosure form for people hacking their site. Spoiling is in such bad taste.

A number of unreleased episodes for several shows (including next week's GoT episode.) have been leaked. Its as though the White House has taken over security for HBO.  And the hackers managed to get a motherload of spoiler material. By most accounts the got a total of 1.5 terabyte of data. Thats a whole lot of scripts.

(but does next week's episode reveal that Tyrion is a Targaryen?.....Probably not.)

According to a statement HBO sent out

“HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information,” the networks said. “We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cybersecurity firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold.”

According to Entertainment Weekly, the hackers have already leaked unreleased episodes of “Ballers” and “Room 104.”

The Response to GoT Script leak?

HBO chairman Richard Plepler stated the abundantly obvious in an internal missive on the leaks.  He described them as  “disruptive, unsettling, and disturbing for all of us.” He then informed the rank and file that the problem would be addressed. By “senior leadership and our extraordinary technology team, along with outside experts”. If that weren't enough to restore confidence, he promised a response that is “nothing short of herculean.”

(We may be wrong, but shouldn't Herculean be capitalized?... Also, Hercules was more notable for one off efforts and tasks.  Wouldn't it be better to be Sisyphean? Just saying..)

“The problem before us is unfortunately all too familiar in the world we now find ourselves a part of,” he wrote, dangling his preposition with the best of them... “As has been the case with any challenge we have ever faced, I have absolutely no doubt that we will navigate our way through this successfully.”

No one know who’s behind the hack. But that hasn't stopped the wild speculation from being downright sinister.  People keep pointing out that the evildoers in North Korea hacked Sony Pictures in 2014, releasing metric buttloads of emails, scripts and videos.

What does this mean, GoT spoilers and spoiler haters? It means that next week's Game of Thrones script is out there somewhere.
