Finally — a horror reboot we’re actually starting to get excited for.
You may or may not have known that yet another reboot of John Carpenter's 1978 all-time classic Halloween is currently in development and eyeing a 2018 release date. However, this one actually might have some merit behind it, as original cast member and star of Halloween, Jamie Lee Curtis, was just announced to be returning to the franchise. She took to her Twitter to post:
"Same porch. Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween. Release date 10/19/18." pic.twitter.com/IvptiZctyw

“Same porch,” Curtis writes. “Same clothes. Same issues. 40 years later. Headed back to Haddonfield one last time for Halloween. Release date 10/19/18.”
Okay, as much as we typically dread these horror movie reboots, seeing how Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street and, keeping with the same property, Rob Zombie’s two Halloween films (which I think we can all agree were terrible) have all tried and failed to re-create the original’s magic, this announcement seems like good news.

Curtis is a talented actress and definitely belongs in the Halloween franchise. We’re not entirely sure what “same issues” means, given that she’s 40 years older and no longer a baby-sitting teenager, but we’re willing to give it a shot at least.
More good news is that original director John Carpenter is signed on as one of the writers, and will also be composing the score again. Given how good the iconic soundtrack to the first film is, which you can listen to below, this movie is starting to sound like it could be worth a watch:
Of course, we’ll have to wait until next October to find out for sure, or at least for the first trailer to drop so we can unfairly start speculating. This Halloween reboot/sequel (pro-longed sequel? Soft reboot? We don’t really know what this thing is yet) is being produced by Blumhouse Productions (Get Out, Split, Insidious) and is being directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Joe).
What do you think? Is this over-kill, or does Jamie Lee Curtis and John Carpenter being involved give you hope? Also, are you as confused as we are as to why the director of Pineapple Express — a movie that is primarily about Seth Rogen and James Franco smoking marijuana — was tapped as the director?
