Pokemon Go adds new storyline mode

Pokemon Go is here to stay and they want people to know it.

Nintendo is releasing an update for the mobile game, Pokemon Go, that includes a story mode.

In a post update on their website on March 26, the Pokemon Go team unveiled details about the expansion, titled "Trainers, It's Time to Conduct Important Pokemon Research!"

"A series of mysterious happenings is occurring all over the world, and Professor Willow is seeking Trainers to help him find out if this is connected to the Mythical Pokémon Mew. These research tasks will become available to Trainers around the world later this week!"

The post goes on to describe the two types of "research" that trainers can get involved in. Field Research involves finding specific Pokemon or getting involved in battles. Field Research is specific tasks requested by Professor Willow and involves going on journeys.

Each field of research allows players to collect one stamp a day to level up for greater rewards.

Pokemon Go has been going through a lot of changes, the last of which added more special Pokemon into the fold for trainers to find.

The mobile game has seen a steady decline in users and profit since its boom in 2016.

Will the new story mode be enough to get more players to re-download the app? That is yet to be determined.

There is no official release date for the update.
