Attack on Titan, Season 3, trailer, released

Attack on Titan is one of the best dark fantasy post-apocalyptic Japanese-Americana anime based off of manga in recent memory.

And now, Attack on Titan will have the opportunity to build of that success with Season 3 of the series coming in July to Funimation. Here's the trailer for the upcoming season below:

Season 3 will feature 24 episodes, nearly matching the episode count of Season 1 (25) with Season 3 doubling Season 2’s episode count of 12.

The series is focused on a world in which humanity lives in cities surrounded by enormous walls which act as a defense mechanism against the Titans, which are humanoids that eat people without regard for human life.

This storyline focuses on the primary protagonist Eren Yeager and his friends since childhood, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlet who join Eren in a vengeful mission, joining the military to fight the Titan’s who destroyed their hometown and, in Eren’s case, seek vengeance for him mother who was eaten in front of him—yes, this show is intense.

Also, Mikasa is a cold-blooded killer as the 104th Training Corps best soldier and one of the elites in the Survey Corps, but also has a loving soft spot for Eren who saved her from being trafficked. Eren is also in the military, but as we find out, he can transform into a 15-meter Titan thanks to his father injecting him with Titan serum.

Essentially, so many questions remain and that’s where Season 3 comes into play. The identity of who's truly manipulating the Titans still lingers after a mysterious man with glasses and blonde hair appeared on top of the Beast Titan, following a failed kidnapping attempt of Eren in the Season 2 finale.
