Marvel has delivered yet another record breaking weekend as Avengers: Infinity War broke the domestic opening weekend box office record as well as the worldwide opening record.
Infinity War brought in $250 million during its opening weekend. This beats the previous record of $247.9 million that was set by 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film also had a global opening of $630 million, which beat the $541.9 million opening that was set by 2017’s The Fate of the Furious.

The film also broke many other records including largest single Saturday gross, largest April opening, largest spring opening and widest PG-13 release. An incredible opening weekend and I do think that this film will end up grossing more than Black Panther and has a legitimate shot to be the highest grossing movie of 2018.

A Quiet Place dropped back down to second place with $10.7 million. It was the only other film inside the top ten that was able to have a double-digit weekend. The film is approaching $150 million domestically after four weeks in release. It is definitely one of the more successful horror films in recent memory.
I Feel Pretty remained in third place for the second straight week. The film brought in $8.1 million and is approaching $30 million domestically. The film dropped 49 percent during its second weekend.
Rampage dropped two spots to fourth place with $7.1 million and is sitting just shy of $80 million domestically. The film is doing very well internationally as it has brought in $256.7 at the international box office.
Black Panther rounds out the top five after moving up three spots this weekend. The film brought in $4.4 million during its eleventh week of release. The film stands at $688 million domestically which is a very impressive total. I still think Infinity War has the ability to beat this number.
Super Troopers 2 took a 76 percent drop during its second weekend and brought in $3.6 million. The film is sitting around $22 million domestically. The film has already passed the original film’s $18.5 million gross after being released for only ten days.
Truth or Dare ($3.2 million), Blockers ($2.9 million), Ready Player One ($2.4 million) and Traffik ($1.6 million) round out the rest of the top ten.
I think Infinity War will have no issue repeating as box office champion. It will face some competition from three new openings including the remake of the '80s film Overboard starring Anna Faris.
