Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants will be the follow up to the 2005 and 2008 films.
For years, rumors have been buzzing about a third movie based on the novels of the same name by Ann Brashares.
On Thurs., April 26, Alexis Bledel was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she said that they had just pitched a third installment of the franchise. When asked if she still keeps in touch with her former costars, Bledel said “We don’t get to see each other a lot because everybody’s work or family and everything, but when everybody is in town we do, and we just pitched a third movie and I hope it comes together. It would be so great.”
The first movie followed four best friends who are about to be apart for the summer, and they find a pair of jeans that magically fit all of them. The jeans become the traveling pants and are mailed from each girl as she is spending her first summer away from her friends. Lena is going to Greece to stay with her grandparents, Tibby is staying home to work on her documentary, Bridget is going to soccer camp in Mexico and Carmen is staying with her dad in South Carolina.

Blake Lively who played Bridget in the movies, told Entertainment Tonight "I think that people who love the movie want to see it. So, I mean, fans have gotten bigger movies made," she added. "Deadpool is all thanks to the fans. So I'm saying we'll do it."
In 2016, Lively sat down with Jesse Cagle “There’s a strong chance there might be a third,” Lively said during the latest episode of The Jess Cagle Interview. “The four of us are still best friends. To be able to create something together again has always been a dream of ours.”
