Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans were not happy when Fox made the announcement that the show was being canceled after season five. We can all breathe easy now, though, as the cop comedy starring Andy Samberg is being resurrected by NBC.
NBC has ordered a 13-episode sixth season for the 2018-2019 season. Depending on how the show does next year, it’s not unreasonable that NBC would continue to renew Brooklyn Nine-Nine following that.
“Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt said via Entertainment Weekly. “Mike Schur, Dan Goor and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up. I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
Cast & crew members, including the creators of the show, Terry Crews and the Lonely Island themselves, wasted no time taking to Twitter to sing their praises to NBC.

Fans — some of whom are famous celebrities themselves — also celebrated the revival, as the internet went up in flames a few days ago when Fox announced the cancelation.
"Thanks @terrycrews, the pleasure was all mine!" he said, accepting full-credit while ignoring the 99 gazillion other fans who love this show & collectively really made it happen. #99IsSoFine https://t.co/J9Kpgcssoj

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has given us fully human characters, beautiful, powerful, flawed, vulnerable, majestic... In whichever form, B99 must return. It will. And I will be there to watch. And, it is my hope that I hope that, this time, a lot more people do too.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will finish its fifth season on Fox still, with the finale airing on May 20.
Honestly, this move makes perfect sense and probably should have happened years ago. While Fox is a good network at all, Brooklyn Nine-Nine feels a lot more like The Office or Parks and Recreation than it does a Fox show.
Are you happy that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will see new life over at NBC? Why do you think Fox wanted to cancel the show in the first place? Let us know in the comments below!
