The bells are ringing as HBO acting royalty has tied the knot!
Kit Harington (John Snow) and Rose Leslie (Snow's wildling lover Ygritte) from A Game of Thrones were married in Scotland on Saturday, June 23. They held a church service and also held a celebration at Rose Leslie's ancestral castle.
Located in northeast Scotland, the now-wedded couple and their guests went to Rayne Chruch for their afternoon service, right by the Wardhill castle, which is 900 years old and which Leslie's family owns. Harington sported a morning suit, while Leslie wore a flowing ivory gown and veil. The public was also gathered by the church and saw the very happy couple enter.
Along with family and friends, and to no surprise, guests included of Harington and Leslie's were from A Games of Thrones, such as Peter Dinklage (Tyrion), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen).
Rose petal confetti filled the air as newlyweds exited the church. They then drove off to the castle grounds for the reception in a Land Rover adorned with signs of "Just Married."
The happy newlyweds, both 31, had started their romance in 2012 while on the set of HBO's A Game of Thrones when they filmed together as John Snow performs espionage for the Wall and falls for Ygritte. (Since Ygritte dies) Leslie left the show in 2014. Currently, she acts in The Good Fight, a U.S. legal drama. Harington still plays as Snow.
Their engagement had been announced in September of 2017 in the Times of London newspaper as a notice.
Sebastian Leslie, Rose Leslie's father, stated he was, "absolutely thrilled" about Saturday's wedding, and that, "It's an absolutely lovely day for us," according to WJLA.
This match is literally perfect as anyone knows from either reading the books by George R. R. Martin or by watching the series the romance is heartfelt and their parting in the plot is saddening. Although in real life they have just started their marriage!
Congratulations are in order, now let's start speculating what happens to Snow in season 8!
