‘Big Brother 20’ recap: ‘Who was the first houseguest evicted from the house?’

Big Brother

It’s time for the first live eviction of the season and either Sam or Steve will be going home. We also have the small chance that nobody is going home if Sam decides to use her power. She would have to win a live challenge to save her game.

#ButFirst I love how divided the house is only a week into the game. Day 12 inside the BB House and Tyler is happy with how the Veto Meeting played out. The magic number is 7 this week. 7 votes will send someone home this week. It is obvious Level 6 wants Steve out and needs one vote. Swaggy C and FOUTTE want to send Sam home.

Level 6 knows they need to swing someone for that seventh vote. They suggest possibly going to Kaitlyn to try and have her be the seventh vote. It just so happens this could work out perfectly as we have another potential showmance and drama happening. Faysal has a crush on Hayleigh. Hayleigh likes Faysal but knows that a showmance is risky. It gets even better because Kaitlyn immediately becomes super jealous and Tyler thinks this couldn’t be better timing to try and convince Kaitlyn to vote Steve out since she seems conflicted and could align herself with someone who isn’t yet a pair in the house.

It’s time for the first live eviction of the summer. Steve and Sam both give their speeches/last-ditch attempts to swing some votes. I think this will be a close vote since the house is very clearly divided. The first six HG votes have us at a 3-3 tie. I’m digging this. It looks like Kaitlyn ended up being the swing vote. Steve is the first houseguest evicted by a very close 7-6 vote. Swaggy C and Bayleigh’s faces are PRICELESS. Steve is a true gentlemen and leaves the house with class.

Julie sits down with Steve who says he is pretty shocked to be evicted. He thought maybe a double alliance would be a good idea to secure that seventh vote. His play was to go into the house as the “quirky uncle” and couldn’t say enough nice things about everyone in the house. Steve is truly a nice and honest guy.

It’s time for the next HOH competition. Will Level 6 retain the power this week or will FOUTTE switch things up this week? This competition is called Land a Job. They have to take turns taking a shot trying to get the highest score (or salary). Scottie sets the bar at $40k. JC and the bros (Winston/Brett) are the first three out.  Sam takes the lead at $50k, eliminating Scottie. Kaycee and Faysal are both eliminated but Kaitlyn hits $80k and takes the lead, eliminating Sam. Angela, Bayleigh and Swaggy C can’t beat her score and Kaitlyn remains in the lead. Rockstar and Hayleigh are also eliminated and it’s either going to be Kaitlyn or Rachel for HOH. Rachel almost gets it but just misses which means Kaitlyn is the new HOH. This should be interesting considering that she appears to maybe have switched sides of the house.

Kaitlyn is ecstatic that she is the new HOH. Sam and Kaycee’s punishments are officially done. I’m very curious to see who Kaitlyn will nominate for eviction. It all depends on which side of the house she is feeling close to. Things change by the second in the Big Brother house.

Catch a brand new episode of Big Brother this Sunday night at 8 p.m. only on CBS.
