Downton Abbey, the well-loved, six-season British drama, received an official greenlight for a movie which goes into production later this summer.
Series creator Julian Fellowes penned the script and the original cast including is set to return, reports TVLine. Brian Percival, who directed The Book Thief and six episodes of Downton Abbey including the pilot, will direct the movie.

Clearly, fans are eager to dive back into the exploits of the Crawley family. With the movie back in the hands of the people who created such a popular show, I can’t help but be optimistic.
Production is slated for this summer, but there is no release date announced yet.
