Hey, baby, do you hear the blues a-callin’?
Kelsey Grammer is reportedly developing concepts for a reboot of Frasier, which starred Grammer as the quick-witted radio psychologist Frasier Craine.
Grammer himself is hearing pitches and writers for the reboot alongside producers, according to Yahoo News. He and his production company, Grammnet Productions, produced the original Frasier, which itself was a spinoff from landmark sitcom Cheers. Recent comedy reboots have seen much success, such as Will & Grace and controversy-ridden Roseanne, though it is unclear if the Frasier reboot will return with the same actors and creative team.
Frasier ran for 11 seasons and earned a record-setting 37 Emmy awards, eventually wrapping up in 2004. Even after 14 years, the fans are as dedicated as ever, and some are already bargaining for what they want:
“[I’ll watch] Only if David Hyde Pierce (Niles) is in it as well. No David, no deal,” says Yahoo user micsavage.
If the reboot goes ahead with the original cast, a noticeable absence will crop up around a certain armchair. John Mahoney, who portrayed Frasier’s father Martin Craine, died February.
