Lauren Duski releases debut single, "Costume Party"

Lauren Duski, season 12 runner-up on NBC’s The Voice (Team Blake), released her debut single, "Costume Party" Wednesday.

An emotional country song, "Costume Party" examines the inevitable feelings of insecurity and self-doubt that often accompany opening oneself up to new relationships.

"So what if I let you see who I am/Why’s it so damn hard not to give a damn/What if I could show my flaws and not be sorry/’Cause I’m over this whole Costume Party," sings Duski with a slight twang in her voice.

Her vocal is both vulnerable and powerful and pairs well with the piano featured on the track. The production is at times more understated, and at others, more robust to reflect the progression of the song as well as the singer’s journey. The message of the song is universal.

Duski’s talent shines through on "Costume Party;" she is truly at home in country music.

To promote the release of "Costume Party," Duski will be performing in her hometown this Friday.
