Nicholas Cage to play Spider-Man Noir in 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Nicholas Cage’s voice will be heard in the upcoming animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

According to Collider, Cage is set to voice Spider-Man Noir, yet another Spider-Man to be featured in the dimension-hopping flick. Spider-Man Noir is, quite simply, the Spider-Man from the “Noir” reality.

In that reality, Peter Parker is a rookie reporter investigating a smuggling ring when he’s bitten by a smuggled-in spider. After he receives his powers, he sets out to take down Norman Osborn, who in this reality is the crime lord responsible for Uncle Ben’s death.

If this writer can humbly offer a prediction, it looks like Spider-Man Noir might be a villain, or at least an enemy that Miles Morales, the starring Spider-Man of Into the Spider-Verse, will have to sway. Casting Cage might mean we won’t see much of the young rookie that Noir began as, but maybe a jaded hero whose pessimism will come into conflict with Miles’ determination.

Confirmed voice talents include Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Lily Tomlin and Mahershala Ali, as well as Shameik Moore as Miles Morales. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse comes out in December 2018.
